Field House

The first time I can find the Field House is in the Description of Enumerators boundary for Dawley district 6, the Enumerator was Mr. William Morris, he put it between Deep Field and Sandy Bank Row, but these pages are missing so I don’t know who was living there in 1861.

In 1868 Sarah Green is advertising in Slater's directory as a beer retailer the Field House.

In Kelly's directory 1870 Mrs Sarah Green a beer retailer, the Field House.

In the 1871 census Sarah Green aged 50 a widow is living at the Field House, her occupation is a Beer Seller, she is living with her two sons Gad aged 22 and John 12, also two daughters Eliza aged 17 and Susannah 10, in this census Sarah was born at Morton Shropshire.

In the 1881 census (April 3rd) district 6, page 73, Schedule 346, William Bailey aged 26 is living there with his wife Eliza aged 26 (Sarah Green’s daughter now Bailey) and two children, also John Green aged 23 brother-in-law and Susannah Green aged 20 daughter-in-law.

In the Wellington Journal - Saturday 20 August 1881, I found an ad for the Field House to be auctioned by the executors of the late Mrs Sarah Green.

In March 1884 Richard Rowley, landlord of the Fieldhouse beer-house, Dawley, was fined £3.00 for having persons on his premises during prohibited hours.

In Kelly's directory 1885, there is an ad for, Richard Rowley a beer retailer Field House.

In Kelly's directory 1891, Richard Rowley, a beer retailer Field House.

In the 1891 census Thomas Evans, a “Retired Sergeant Wars Artillery” is living there.

In the 1901 census William Dorsett Lewis, is living there a Farmer, Worker at home.

In the 1911 census James Breeze is living there a purveyor of Milk, worker, own account.
